Yesterday was a special day for Rebirth of Kosova Church as we celebrated with 9 new believers on the day of their baptism. It was an especially significant day for the church as 4 of the 9 people being baptised are from the new church plant in Klina. Continue reading “Baptisms”
One of our favourite parts of being members of Kisha Rilindja e Kosovës (Rebirth of Kosova Church) is that we get to meet people from all over the world who have the same desire and passion to see the church in Kosova grow as we do. Throughout the year we get requests as a church to host teams from other countries for conferences or outreach projects.
In August we hosted a team from Italy who were in Kosova for the first time as part of Tour Giallo, or “Yellow Tour”. The team were from a large church in Milan, Italy and many of them are students of the Church’s own Bible school. Tour Giallo is an evangelism project to reach people throughout Europe. Wow, what a week. We have been on the go non-stop since 7th March when we spent the day preparing for International Women’s Day which is on 8th March every year. As a church we decided to hold a special event for women, young and old, to celebrate this day and invited a guest speaker to come and speak on the theme “Hope in the midst of difficulty”. Continue reading “8th March 2017”
Back in June we wrote about a national campaign to clean up Kosova (Please see Ta Pastrojmë Kosovën – Clean Up Kosova) when we spent a day clearing rubbish from Brekoc, a village we often support with food parcels (Please see Food, and more…). Today, as part of the Youth Ministry of our Church, Rebirth of Kosova, we worked with the Youth to clean up Gjakovë. Continue reading “Ta Pastrojmë Gjakovën – Clean Up Gjakova”
It has been a while since our last update as we have had visitors with us for the last two weeks. Now that we are back to our normal routine we thought we would update you over the next few days on what we have been doing as part of our service with the church here in Gjakova. Continue reading “Ta Pastrojmë Kosovën – Clean Up Kosova”
For over a year now our church, Kisha Rilindja e Kosoves (Rebirth of Kosova Church), has been linked with a World Challenge project called Please Pass the Bread which provides funding for feeding programmes worldwide. The way we are involved in this is to go and buy food parcels and then distribute them to families in Gjakovë and surrounding villages. Continue reading “Food Distribution”
The Easter weekend was a busy one for us as we, like most churches, had extra services to prepare for, and in the run up to Easter Helen was also given the opportunity to be creative and design the publicity for the joint service on Sunday afternoon at the Cultural Palace in the centre of town. Continue reading “Urime Pashka – Happy Easter”
We often get asked what Gjakova is like and what kind of facilities we have in the town. We’d like to use our blog not only to update you about what we are doing with the church but also to give you an insight into the culture in Kosova. Continue reading “Gjakovë Virtual Tour”
Thank you for praying for the situation with the stairs and balcony to enter the church. We have heard this morning that the municipality have granted us an extension to the deadline to remove the stairs and balcony while we find an alternative way to enter the church. Praise God!
Please continue to pray that we will find a solution to the issue before the new deadline and that it will not adversely affect attendance at the church or trade at King’s Cafe.
We’d like to share with you an urgent prayer request regarding our church here.
Last week we had a visit from the municipality inspectors who told us that the stairs and balcony that serve as our entrance to the church and cafe are illegally built and we have until tomorrow to take them down.
These stairs are the only way we can get into our building at the moment (we are on the first floor above some shops) and if these stairs are removed we will have to find another way in or find another place for the church.
Our Pastor, Jeton, is meeting with municipality officials and the landlord today to request an alternative course of action.
What to pray:
1. For God’s favour in the meeting today.
2. To find a way to legalize the stairs and the balcony or special permission to use them from the municipality
3. Favor with the inspectors/officials so we could have a longer deadline before removing the steps.
