House Ministry in Vraniq

We wrote about the house ministry in Vraniq back in April and it is still very much part of what we do each week. On Saturday mornings we go for 1-2 hours and spend time in the homes of the Roma families who live in Vraniq. Our time is spent singing worship songs, which the younger kids really love, sharing a story, psalm or reflection from the Bible and then spending time teaching English and Albanian reading and writing, and having a time of fellowship.

Music Course

It’s been several months since we started the music course at church for those who want to learn to play the piano, guitar or to work on their singing. We want to train the next generation of worship leaders so that each area of ministry in the church has people equipped to lead worship both now and for years to come. Youth Camp 2017

This summer has been really busy: we’ve been involved with mission teams, a project to distribute water with an evangelical message and preparations for the church’s 10th anniversary celebrations at the beginning of September. But by far the most anticipated activity this summer was the youth camp. Our original plan as a church was to go on camp at the beginning of July but due to limited finances and wedding season here in Kosova we had to push the dates back to the end of August. The Life of Jesus

Last year, the worship group from our church, Kisha Rilindja e Kosovës, led the worship at the joint Easter Sunday service in Gjakovë (Read more: Urime Pashka – Happy Easter). For joint services each of the 6 churches in Gjakovë takes turns in providing the worship, drama, preaching and welcome, so this year our church is providing the drama. During the Christmas Day service at our church the youth performed “The Life of Jesus”, a mime taking only 6 minutes. At Christmas the message of the drama was that we shouldn’t focus only on Jesus’ birth but on His birth as the starting point of His life, ministry, death and resurrection.

We’ve been practising all week with the youth to perform the same drama at the Cultural Palace on Sunday afternoon.

The Youth Clean Up Gjakovë

Last weekend we went with the Youth of the church for the second year in a row to clean up the park area near to our church. You can see the pictures and read about this initiative from last year in our blog post Ta Pastrojmë Gjakovën – Clean Up Gjakovë. Last year we collected 8 sacks of rubbish from a small area just across the road from our church and this year we collected 7 so there is perhaps a gradual improvement taking place.

Youth ministry doesn’t just happen in the church

Every now and again it’s good to take the church outside the building and spend time in fellowship somewhere different. The Youth Ministry is no exception and, because some of the boys were occupied with the inter-church football tournament the number of young people was diminished. Helen went with Drita (another church leader who is responsible for the Youth Ministry) and eight of the young people to the local shopping centre for an hour of bowling. Ta Pastrojmë Gjakovën – Clean Up Gjakova

Back in June we wrote about a national campaign to clean up Kosova (Please see Ta Pastrojmë Kosovën – Clean Up Kosova) when we spent a day clearing rubbish from Brekoc, a village we often support with food parcels (Please see Food, and more…). Today, as part of the Youth Ministry of our Church, Rebirth of Kosova, we worked with the Youth to clean up Gjakovë.  Continue reading “Ta Pastrojmë Gjakovën – Clean Up Gjakova”
