It’s been several months since we started the music course at church for those who want to learn to play the piano, guitar or to work on their singing. We want to train the next generation of worship leaders so that each area of ministry in the church has people equipped to lead worship both now and for years to come. Continue reading “Music Course”
In May this year we were visited by friends and former colleagues from the UK. During that week we visited the city to pray for the call on our church to plant a church in Klinë, specifically for God to show us the right place to rent for the church plant and for the gospel message to be heard there.
After several months of prayer and visits to Klinë we finally agreed to rent a small shop opposite a primary school in order to start the church ministry and English course. Continue reading “Church Plant Klinë”
We love worship and it is very much part of our everyday lives as well as something we lead at church. When Ilir was asked to take over as worship leader in 2014 he was nervous about being a worship leader because he didn’t think he could sing well enough or play the guitar very well (his preferred instrument is the bass guitar). When he asked me to join the worship group in 2015 I felt very much the same way about playing the piano, but God has equipped us both and continues to lead us as we lead worship at our church Kisha Rilindja e Kosovës. We are blessed that we also have three other members of the worship group who each bring different gifts and a passion for worship.*
On Saturday we were asked to lead worship at a small church in Deçan, a town just over 20km from Gjakovë. Continue reading “Leading Worship in Deçan”
Regular readers of our blog or prayer letters will know that we organise a couple’s dinner once a month at our church where we can get together and discuss what it means to have a Christian marriage. Normally each couple brings some food and we share a meal together followed by a discussion and dessert. This month, instead of our normal couple’s dinner we all attended a marriage seminar hosted by another Gjakovë church. Continue reading “Marriage Seminar”
Wow, what a week. We have been on the go non-stop since 7th March when we spent the day preparing for International Women’s Day which is on 8th March every year. As a church we decided to hold a special event for women, young and old, to celebrate this day and invited a guest speaker to come and speak on the theme “Hope in the midst of difficulty”. Continue reading “8th March 2017”
For some time we have been planning and praying about teaching a music course for anyone at the church who is interested in learning an instrument or developing further skills in an instrument they already play. Continue reading “Kursi Muzikes – Music Course”
“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.“
Psalm 100:1-2 (NIV)
You know the drill: Sunday morning comes, you go to church, find your favourite seat, greet others in the church, the Pastor/Minister/Vicar opens the service with a Bible verse about the goodness of God or the importance of giving Him our worship. The worship leader (probably wearing a checked shirt) starts strumming away on their guitar, singing songs that you’ve sung 100 times before or, even worse, a song that you’ve never heard of before. So you stand there feeling awkward while the worship team play and sing as if they’re in Wembley Stadium with an audience of 90,000.
Sound at all familiar? Continue reading “Worshipping when you don’t feel like worshipping”
Urime Vitin e Ri – Happy New Year! We hope that everyone reading this had a wonderful Christmas and is being blessed so far in 2017. It seems like 2016 went so quickly, especially the last month which was jam packed full of church activities, family commitments and challenges. Continue reading “Happy New Year! It’s been a while…”
Christmas is very nearly upon us and we wanted to take this opportunity to let you know what we’ll be doing in the run up to and including Christmas Day. Continue reading “Christmas activities”
Ilir recently translated the worship song Still, and we sang it during our Sunday worship service last week. We hope you enjoy the video.
It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks for Rebirth of Kosova Church. You may remember reading our post Rebirth of Kosova is moving! about how, due to the issues we were having with our old building, we had made the decision to move to a new building. We also appealed for your support to cover the increased cost of the rent at the new building and we would like to encourage you to pray and share our fundraising page so that we can raise the remainder of the funds we need https://crowdfunding.justgiving.com/rokrent Continue reading “A time of transition”
The Easter weekend was a busy one for us as we, like most churches, had extra services to prepare for, and in the run up to Easter Helen was also given the opportunity to be creative and design the publicity for the joint service on Sunday afternoon at the Cultural Palace in the centre of town. Continue reading “Urime Pashka – Happy Easter”
