About us

Welcome to our blogimg_0910

We are Ilir and Helen Dervishi and we are serving the Lord full time in Kosova with our church Kisha Rilindja e Kosovës (Rebirth of Kosova Church). We are involved in various ministries through the church and we would like to share those and other aspects of our life with you through our blog.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,
“Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Isaiah 6:8

Our Story

We first met in 2012 when we were both working for the same charity, Helen based in England and Ilir in Kosova. We got married in 2014 and have lived in Kosova ever since (although technically Ilir never left). At the beginning of 2015 we felt God’s call to give our time fully to the church, working alongside our Pastor to organise the day-to-day running of the church and also various outreach activities and social help projects. We also lead the worship in the church and help to teach English several times per week.

Our backgrounds are quite different. Helen grew up in South-East London going to a Baptist Church, and attending a Methodist School for 13 years. Ilir was born and bred in Gjakovë and grew up as a non-practising Muslim before becoming a Christian along with several members of his family after the war in Kosova in 1999.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged,
for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9

We also run another blog, Këngë Adhurimi Shqip (Albanian Worship Songs) for Albanian speaking churches, worship leaders and believers which has worship songs translated into Albanian for anyone to use.
