Dear friends. It’s been a very long summer for us, hence the reason we haven’t posted anything for several months. It’s back to school time for the children and youth but for us it’s just a case of carrying on as normal. We haven’t stopped for a break this summer which has been a little tiring, partly because of the 40ºC+ heat we have here in Kosova in the summer. Because it’s been so long, we’ll start with the most recent news first and update you on some other activities from the summer in the near future.
2017 is a special year for our church, Kisha Rilindja e Kosovës, as we celebrate 10 years since Pastor Jeton and Flora started the church. On 9th September we hosted a special service of thanksgiving with an exhibit of photos from the last 10 years and a buffet reception. It was great to hear from Pastor Jeton something about how the church was started as well as the challenges and joys that have brought the church to where we are now. Pastor Driton Krasniqi, the President of KPEC (Kosova Protestant Evangelical Church) preached at the event and other pastors from around Kosova brought greetings and words of encouragement for the future.
We worked for a couple of weeks in the run up to the anniversary event preparing posters of pictures from the last 10 years (see slideshow below) as well as cooking and preparing food for the buffet (not much was left at the end of the day). Helen’s parents were able to visit us during this time too so they helped with some of the food preparation and were able to enjoy the event and celebrate with us.
Here is just a small selection of photos from the event. It was truly a wonderful celebration of the 10th anniversary of the church and a great foundation on which to build the next 10 years.
