The Easter weekend was a busy one for us as we, like most churches, had extra services to prepare for, and in the run up to Easter Helen was also given the opportunity to be creative and design the publicity for the joint service on Sunday afternoon at the Cultural Palace in the centre of town.
Our Good Friday evening service at church was intimate. We opened with worship before reading Luke 23 together and sharing in communion. We ended with more worship and were asked by those present to continue the worship for even longer and you could really feel the Holy Spirit in that meeting.
Easter Sunday morning was an exciting service and everyone made a big effort, dressing up and bringing other family members for the service. We worshipped, and again sang more songs than we had originally planned. The youth put on a play to demonstrate the control that sin and Satan can have over us and how Jesus is the only way out of that life. Pastor Jeton then gave a short message and we shared fellowship with one another over a bring and share lunch.
There was no time to rest for the worship group after this as we had just a few hours until we led worship at the joint service in the afternoon. We were very grateful to have the help of Adhurim, Çlirim and Florian who spent all afternoon helping us set everything up and running errands. Despite a few teething problems with the sound system we were ready and rehearsed in good time for the service to start at 4pm. We sang “For all You’ve done”, “Oh Happy Day”, “Lord I lift Your name on high (You came from Heaven to Earth)”, “Kjo botë kërkon për një hero sot” (“The world needs a hero today” an Albanian worship song) and “Forever”. Unfortunately a string on Ilir’s guitar snapped half way through the worship but we carried on regardless. We watched the same drama as in the morning service but this time performed by youth from Family Church, and the main Easter message was preached by Pastor Driton Gashi from Family Church.
We hope you all had a great Easter weekend celebrating the resurrection of our King, thank you for those of you who prayed for us leading the worship at the joint service.
He is alive!
